The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of poly ethylene oxide (PEO) on the hydrophilicity of copolymers when it introduced into the polymerization of nylon46/6 (N46/6) copolymer. N46/6 copolymers were prepared by adding PEO oligomers with a molecular weight of 1000. The amount of PEO oligomer was adjusted to 0, 10, 15, and 20% by weight. The polymerization proceeded in two steps. In order to evaluate the effect of PEO on hydrophilicity of copolymer, the water contact angle (WAC) and the moisture content were evaluated. In WAC measurement, the contact angles of the N46/6 copolymers containing PEO oligomers by weight of 0, 10, 15, 20% shown 83.8, 50.1, 41.5 and 35.2°, respectively. And the moisture content measurement indicated 4.50, 5.78, 7.55, and 8.02%, respectively. That is, the more PEO was added into the co-polymerization, the more hydrophilicity and hygroscopicity were enhanced. |
