Plasma treatment is frequently used to increase surface functionality and surface activity. It enables to improve various surface properties such as catalytic selectivity, printability, and interfacial adhesion between various materials. Surface of the polycarbonate (PC) and Polyethersolfone (PES) is exposed under an atmospheric pressure plasma treatment (APPT), generated by non-thermal plasma and the treated surfaces are systemically investigated. Argon, Helium and oxygen are used as a processing gas. Properties of the treated PC and PES are investigated by the analysis of the surface energies and hardness, wettability. It is shown that the plasma treatment leads to increases of surface energies of PC and PES. Therefore, it is concluded that the APPT process is an effective means to increase affinity of PES film and Acrylate polymer coating solution. |
