Chemicophysical Property and Release Behavior of Rosiglitazone Maleate Solid Dispersion with various ratio of PVP and HPMC |

Solid dispersion is the technique to disperse polymers into the drug uniformly. This technique can control release rate of water-soluble drug or poor-soluble drug. In this study, we used HPMC and PVP as additives. HPMC is a well known polymer to control drug release and PVP makes drug water-soluble. Solid dispersion mixed with various ratio of PVP and HPMC was analyzed by scanning electron microscope(SEM) to confirm surface morphology. X- ray diffraction(XRD) and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) were carried out to confirm crystallinity and chemical structure change respectively. Zeta-potential was used to measure surface charge. Hydrophobicity against water was analyzed by measuring contact angle of water. We showed that crystallinity of drug was disappeared after making solid dispersions and release rate of drug incresed when we mixed HPMC and PVP with same ratio in gastric juice (pH 1.2). |
