Preparation and Characterization of Valsartan Loaded Polyoxalate Microspheres |

One of major challenges in the drug delivery lies in the development of microspheres that are effectively delivered to release their payload over an extended period to achieve a clinical response. We prepared valsartan loaded polyoxalate that reported as a new family of biocompatible and biodegradable polymer. Microspheres were prepared using a simple method based on an emulsion-solvent evaporation method with various conditions. The polyoxalate molecular weight and concentration of cosurfactant dominated the structure of polyoxalate microsphere, in vitro degradation and drug release profiles of microspheres. Valsartan loaded polyoxalate microspheres had a diameter from 200 nm to 80 m (figure 1). Drug release profiles from valsartan loaded polyoxalate microspheres can be controlled (figure 2). We anticipate great potential of valsartan loaded polyoxalate microspheres for controlled and sustained drug delivery, given their simple formulation and the control of drug release profiles. |
