Synthesis of beta-glucan hydrogel containing metronidazole and its antibacterial activity |
초록 |
Beta-glucans belong to a group of polysaccharides that are present in the cell walls of bacteria, fungi and so on. They are considered biological response modifiers with immunomodulatory and beneficial health effects, including anticancer properties. In this study, we prepared beta-glucan hydrogel containing drug. Metronidazole (MD) was selected as a drug. MD is frequently used in the treatment for periodontal diseases since it can be against several gram-negative anaerobic rods. The beta-glucan solution was cross-linked with gamma-ray irradiation at room temperature to make hydrogel. The beta-glucan hydrogels was dipped into the MD solution. Their physical properties such as gelation, swelling ratio, compressive strength have been investigated. Also, the antibacterial properties were evaluated by paper diffusion test. |
