It is well known that the lead acid battery becomes a waste battery after about 200 cycles mainly due to the sulfation. Preventing sulfation and extending the life of the cycle without changing materials or injecting electrolyte are possible by changing the charging method. In this paper, to show the difference of the charging condition, a comparison was made between 3 different types of PC (Pulse current) that has different ratios of charging time and rest time with DC charge. The frequency of the pulse used was 1Hz. The experiment was conducted up to 250 charge/discharge cycles. The difference with pulse charging and DC charging of life cycles started to show, in graph, after 200 cycle, and the degradation capacity due to pulse charge was less than that of the degradation capacity due to the DC charge. The resulting batteries had different surface morphology, especially sulfate crystal sizes, when examed with SEM. |
