Preparation of Uniformly Shaped Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube-Polypyrrole Nanowires |

Carbon nanotubes are an important class of novel materials with outstanding properties such as a high aspect ratio, high electrical conductivity, as well as a high chemical and thermal stability. Therefore, many attempts have been made to explore the potential of enhancing the properties of different polymer materials by forming nanocomposites with different carbon nanotubes. Surfactants have been shown to be able not only to individualize carbon nanotubes, but also to support the preparation of composites with carbon nanotubes. We report here on the synthesis of very uniformly shaped polypyrrole-carbon nanotube composites with the aid of three different types of surfactants and the investigation of their morphologies and electronic properties. The materials were characterized by FT-IR, UV-VIS, and NIR spectroscopy as well as by TEM and four-point probe resistivity measurements. |
