The depletion of fossil fuels and the high cost for energy production threaten a humans’ development. For the sense, there occurs a great necessity for the exploration and the supply of renewable energy. Among the energy, a reverse electro-dialysis (RED) that generates electricity from the mixing of high and low salinity water, accompanied with the change in Gibbs free energy receives a spotlight, in that it is eco-friendly and is not affected by climate or time. Unfortunately, the power generation by state-of-art RED technique does not meet the social demand. In this study, we attempt to increase the power density of a lab-scale RED stack by employing an improved electrode system, which is prepared by electrochemical method.
