Fabrication of UV-Curable Acrylic Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive for Medical Patch |

Acrylic PSAs are made from higher alky esters of acrylate without need of tackifiers and provide excellent physical properties. To improve the adhesion of acrylic PSAs, a party of the adhesive chain is cured to improve cohesion force. For the curing of acrylic PSAs, an isocyanate-based curing agent is generally used. However, the isocyanated curing agent has a long-curing time and exhibits high toxicity when remaining. In this study, we were introduced UV-curing system for adhesive curing. UV-curing system is rapid curing time and non-toxicity. UV-curable acrylic PSAs were fabricated by blending pre-polymer, synthesized via free-radical polymerization, and acrylate monomers. Synthesized pre-polymer and UV-curable pressure-sensitive adhesive were characterized using Fourier Transfer Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (FT-NMR), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), Peel Tester and Contact Angle Analyzer. |
