PID controller has been widely used in the industry field because of its simplicity, robustness, and ability to solve most of the control problems. However, the PID controller shows poor performance in the integrating process, such as excessive overshoot. In the present study, a new PID controller design is introduced to handle the integrating process. The proposed control design takes derivative information of the system in order to compensate for the characteristic of the integrating process that results in a large time delay. Furthermore, it can boost the robustness and stability of the control system by increasing gain margin and phase margin. The simulation results confirm that the proposed PID controller design secures better performances (i.e., fast response, slight overshoot, and fast convergence) under various integrating processes. |
