Novel organic-inorganic hybrid materials of poly(4,7-bis(5-triethoxysilyl vinyl-3-hexyl thiophen-2-yl)-benzothiadiazole)(PTBT-Si) were synthesized for LED applications. 4,7-Bis(3-dodecylthiophen-2-yl)-benzothiadiazole was synthesized by Suzuki coupling of 4,7-dibromo-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole and 2-(3-hexylthiophen-2-yl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-[1,3,2]- dioxaborolane using a tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)Palladium(0). NBS reaction was performed on 4,7-bis(3-hexylthiophen-2-yl)-benzothiadiazole to obtain its dibromo compound. Poly(4,7-bis(5-bromo-3-hexylthiophen-2-yl)-benzothiadiazole) (PTBT) was prepared via Yamamoto-type coupling reaction using a Ni(COD)2 which was further modified into the silane-containing oligomeric compound (PTBT-Si) by Heck coupling with vinyltriethoxysilane using Pd[P(tBu)3]2 for the preparation of crosslinked thin films for LED applications. The molecular structures and film morphology were identified by various characterization tools. |
