We have fabricated tetrapyrazinoindoloporphyrazine mono and multilayer films on polycrystalline gold and quartz substrates using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) way. XPS indicates that the atomic ratios of C, N and O for the LB films are similar to the theoretical ratios for the tetrapyrazinoindoloporphyrazine. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) reveals that the surface roughness of LB multilayer are higher than that of the LB monolayer due to aggregation of the phthalocyanine molecules in the multilayer films. The thicknesses of the tetrapyrazinoindoloporphyrazine LB monolayer are 12, 10 and 7Å. In the case of 11-multilayer LB films, the thicknesses are 146, 115 and 150Å. The 11-multilayer LB films are only 12, 10.5 and 21 times thicker than the monolayer LB films. This result is consistent with the surface roughness data showing aggregation of tetrapyrazinoindoloporphyrazine in multilayer LB films. UV-vis spectroscopy indicates a blue shift of the Q band of the LB films compared with the tetrapyrazinoindoloporphyrazine solution due to interaction between stacked phthalocyanine rings. |
