A Versatile Approach to Direct Extracellular Matrix Coating Using Polydopamine and Fibronectin for Biomedical Devices |

Implantable biomedical devices have been widely used for the treatment of diseases and even attracted much attention for wearable devices such as implantable sensors and electronics. However, those have caused severe problems because of poor compatibility in biointerface. To overcome this, we employed a sequential coating of polydopamine (pDA) and fibronectin (FN) on a metal surface (CoCr). The surface-modified CoCr was characterized by SEM, AFM, FTIR and XPS, and was applied to coat extracellular matrix (ECM) through decellularization. We also diversified the cell sources of coated ECM and compared each other using genetic and proteomic analysis tools. It is believed that the versatile sequential coating with pDA and FN will be not only a promising approach but also provide the information for the wide range of future applications in tissue regeneration. |
