Preparation and Characterization of Poly(ε-caprolactone) Microcapsule Containing Chamaecyparis obtusa oil |

Microcapsules could be used in cosmetics, pharmaceutical, quasi drugs and medical applications. Poly(ϵ-caprolactone) (PCL), a biodegradable, biocompatible polymer and nontoxicity, is useful to encapsulate a wide range of drugs making it material for the preparation of carriers with potential applications in therapeutics. Poly(ϵ-caprolactone) microcapusules containing Chamaecyparis obtusa oil utilizing supercritical fluid extraction were prepared by solvent evaporation method. Poly(vinyl alcohol) was used as a emulsifier and dichloromethane was used as a solvent for PCL and Chamaecyparis obtusa oil. Image analyzer and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to observe the shape and surface of microcapsule. Thermal behaviors were studied by using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). PCL microcapsules containing drugs were confirmed using FT-IR spectra. The drug release test of PCL microcapsules was characterized by UV/vis. spectra. |
