제목 | Synthesis of PEO-b-sulfonamide using PEO-based macroinitiator via atom transfer radical polymerization |
초록 | Transition metal(Cu(Ⅰ))-catalyzed free radical (co)polymerizations, called as atom transfer radical (co)polymerization, of N-isopropylacrylamide and sulfonamide methacylamide were successfully performed in aqueous media at room temperature. Especially, Cu(Ⅰ) halide-Me6TREN complex has been found to be an effective ATRP catalyst system. This catalytic system may be used for synthesis of highly polar vinyl monomers such as MMA type sulfonamide monomer in aqueous media. It has been known for a long time that sulfonamides exhibit intrinsic dissociation constants (pKa). With the regard, the pH-sensitive polymers containing a sulfonamide group may show a sharp transition in solubility, various pH swelling values, and its reversibility depending on its composition. In this experiment, chain end-brominated poly(ethylene oxide) was used as macroinitiator for preparation of PEO-b-sulfonamide via atom transfer radical polymerization using the Cu(Ⅰ) catalytic system. In this communication, the results for ATRP of these PEO-based macroinitiator will be presented. |
