Effect of polymer structure and film thickness on the thermoelectric properties of wire-bar-coated P3HT films |

Recently, thermoelectric polymers have been extensively studied for their potential applications in flexible, printable and low-cost thermoelectric generators. We prepared highly crystalline poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) films by wire-bar-coating. The effect of film thickness and crystallinity of the P3HT films were investigated in this study. The maximum values of Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity and power factor of the wire-bar-coated P3HT films were measured to be 37.2 μV K-1, 254 S cm-1, 35.0 μW m-1K-2, respectively. Through this study, it was found that the optimized thermoelectric properties can be obtained by controlling the film thickness and polymer structure. Further, because the selection of the processing method and the type of conjugated polymers determines the final thermoelectric characteristics of the films, they should be considered carefully for future thermoelectric applications. |
