Various types of polycarboxylates based on n-butyl acrylate(n-BA), methyl methacrylate(MMA) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA) were synthesized by two environmentally-friendly routes such as conventional emulsion polymerization and emulsion atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP), followed by the characterizations by FT-IR, 1H-NMR spectroscopies and gel permeation chromatography. The synthesized polycarboxylates were used to evaluate their mechanical/adhesive and thermal properties depending on their compositions, molecular weights, and polydispersities in order to be potentially used as pressure-sensitive adhesives(PSA). |
