In this study, an electroless method was used to obtain good electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI-SE) of Ni-P/Carbon fibers/epoxy composites. Carbon fibers (CFs) were Ni-plated chemically to enhance the EMI-SE of Nickel-Carbon fibers (Ni-CFs)/epoxy composites. The surface properties of the Ni-CFs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The EMI-SE of the Ni-CFs/epoxy was tested by electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding analyzer. The EMI-SE of Ni-CFs/epoxy was enhanced compared to that of as-received CFs/epoxy. As a result, the electroless Ni-CFs/epoxy composite shows good electrical conductivity and shows the effect of good electromagnetic shielding. The Ni-CFs can lead to EMI-SE improvement due to the EMI absorption behavior of the Ni particles. |
