제목 Comparative techno-economic analysis of membrane reactors under development in Korea
초록 Methane steam reforming (MSR) is a conventional method for production of hydrogen that is widely used for diverse industries. Endothermic reaction of MSR requires a huge amount of energy and this leads to increased capital costs due to the inevitable selection of a reactor with a good thermal resistance. Aiming at cost reductions in MSR by reducing an operating temperature driven by improved product yields owing to Le Chatelier’s principle, a membrane reactor (MR) equipped with hydrogen membrane has been actively developed in Korea. With recent advancements in a MR technology, it is a timely approach to perform techno-economic analysis studies for two types of MRs that are currently being developed in Korea in terms of a unit H2 production cost. Based on a unit H2 production cost, sensitivity analysis (SA) to determine the most influential economic factors and discounted cumulative cash flow diagram (CFD) to assess profitability were conducted to evaluate both technical and economic feasibility of a MR in Korea.
