Mesoporous carbon materials were synthesized by the mesoporous silica template using the mPEG-b-PLA comprising the various alkyl chain lengths of the diblock copolymers. The carbonization was performed by the sucrose and sulfuric acid. After elimination of silica with 5% of HF solution, the pores and walls of mesoporous silica were transformed to walls and pores of mesoporous carbon, respectively. The results conformed by the instrumental analysis containing TEM and BET, 29Si, 13C NMR spectroscopic methods. This process shows some advantage; preparation at room temperature, short reaction time, and control pore sizes by the change of hydrophilic domain of diblock copolymers. Mesoporous carbons are promising in many applications, including manufacturing of electrochemical double layer capacitors, chromatography, and adsorption of large molecules. |
