Preparation of shell cross-linked Tetronic-tyramine micelles via enzymatic reaction for controlled drug delivery |

The shell cross-linked (SCL) polymeric micelles have been studied widely as an effective drug carrier for controlled drug delivery. In this study, the SCL Tetronic-Tyramine (Tet-TA) micelles were developed using enzymatic reaction to improve micelle stability and to control the drug release behavior. The SCL micelles were prepared in aqueous solution in the presence of horseradish peroxidase and hydrogen peroxide. The critical micelle concentration of Tet-TA micelles was 0.03 g/l approximately. The size distribution of the SCL micelles was ranged from 20 to 40 nm. The morphologies of the SCL micelles were observed by AFM and TEM. In addition, the cross-linking degree of the SCL micelles was analyzed by DSC through the Tm and Tg value. The drug loading amount and efficiency were 0.038 mg/mg of polymer and 38 wt% respectively. These results demonstrated that the SCL Tet-TA micelles via enzymatic reaction have a potential as a drug carrier for controlled drug delivery. |
