Carbon nanotubes have shown a lot of potentials for a vast range of applications due to its unique electronic and mechanical properties. The preparation of CNT dispersion is an essential requirement for all these applications. Although one can overcome this problem by different methods, such as dispersing CNTs in various solvents with the help of surfactants, covalent and non -covalent functionalization, free radical assisted functionalization, reduction and composites with polymers etc., CNTs/conducting polymer composite has an advantage of achieving well dispersed films with enhanced optical electrical and mechanical properties. We prepared PEDOT –PSS /SWNT composites dispersion after surface modification of SWNTs with nitric acid or thionyl chloride treatment. The thionyl chloride treated SWNTs were found giving better dispersions with PEDOT-PSS in water and which is showing improved electrical conductivity and transparency than the composite prepared by using carboxylated SWNTs. |
