A theoretical analysis of the batch macromixing process in stirred tanks was carried out. Quantitative relations were derived for liquid concentration variance in various scales of scrutiny. A numerical model of turbulent macromixing was presented and solved for a wide range of process variables. The theoretical analysis along with the modelling results led to some conclusions of remarkable importance to the theory and practice of the process considered.
