The mechanism of long-chain xanthate sorption on djurleite and chalcopyrite surface was investigated. The crystal structure of metal sulphides, the geometry of the xanthate groups and the xanthate-metal sulphides interaction were taken into account. A spectacular increase in sorption rate of higher xanthates on the mineral surface was observed.
