Wear in high-speed impact mills
The problem of wear in high speed impact mills is serious. In impact mills the processes of wear and fragmentation occur simultaneously. Most of the parameters influencing wear also influence milling efficiency. On special testing rigs, modeling the conditions of work in real mills, the main laws of the process were investigated. In this paper special attention is paid to the influence of impact velocity, concentration of particles, particle size, content of humidity and additives on wear. New interesting results were gained in the research of materials under conditions of static and dynamic loading, that may be used in working out theoretical formulas for wear calculation. The main possibilities for more wear-resistant working elements are: using special wear-resistant materials, using new improved constructions of working parts, or both.
