Performance study of wear resistance and solid lubricant surface coatings on textile machinery components
Wear resistance surface coatings of different compositions of Alumina-Titania composites (Alumina-3% Titania, Alumina-13% Titania, and Alumina-40% Titania) coatings were made on the components of power looms (gun rod, cylindrical rod, nose cylinder, nose, paddle wheel, and paddle wheel pin) and solid lubricant surface coatings of different compositions of Cr2O3 + MoS2 composites (Cr2O3, Cr2O3 + wt5%MoS2, Cr2O3 + wt10%MoS2, and Cr2O3 + wt15%MoS2) coatings were made on power loom components (wheel pin Bush, wheel pin rod, center soft bearing bush, and crank soft bearing bush) by using 40kW DC atmospheric plasma torch at three different critical plasma spraying parameter conditions (833.33; 1000; and 1166.66) and studied their influence on coatings. Sliding wear rate and porosity of these coatings with lifetime study were also monitored. Further, till date the life of components has exceeded three times and five times for different components.
