COMPUTATIONAL AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF JET INTERACTION FLUIDIC INJECTORS
Fluidic injectors have the potential to provide periodic, distributed spray production for a variety of applications. An experimental and analytic study was conducted using a concept developed by Raghu in 2001 (U.S. Patent 6,253,782) to assess the frequencies and mass-flow pulsation levels produced by the device over a range of different designs. Using water as the working fluid, frequencies in the range of 160-235 Hz were measured and these measurements agreed well with computational predictions. Mass-flow pulsation levels as high as 12% are predicted using the computational analysis. Operation of the units was characterized for several different designs.
