Heat-Conduction in a Semiinfinite Solid Due to Time-Dependent Laser Source
An analytical model for the computation of temperature and heat flux distribution in a semiinfinite solid when subjected to spatially decaying, time-dependent laser source is investigated. The appropriate dimensionless parameters are identified and the reduced temperature and heal flux as a function of these parameters are presented in a graphic form. Some special cases of practical interest are also discussed. It is demonstrated that the present analysis covers the continuously operating constant strength as well as instantaneous laser source cases, along with some new solutions.
