This paper discusses the origination, development and current status of chilled ceilings, displacement ventilation and combined systems. Current knowledge of chilled ceilings (including ceiling panels and beams), displacement ventilation and combined systems is summarised and a comprehensive review of research into chilled ceilings and displacement ventilation systems is presented.
