Sublimation growth and vibrational microspectrometry of alpha-MoO3 single crystals
High-quality platelet alpha-MoO3 single crystals with dimensions of similar to 1000 x 200 x 0.4 mu m(3) have been grown on Si(100) substrates in quartz tube reactor in air atmosphere by sublimation of molybdenum oxide at T=660 degrees C. Phase composition of grown crystals has been identified by X-ray single crystal structure analysis in space group Prima, a=13.8674(7) angstrom, b=3.6976(2) angstrom, c=3.9644(2) angstrom, Z=4 (R=0.0154). Polarized Raman microspectrometry has been used to describe the symmetry of vibration modes of alpha-MoO3 Raman spectrum. Several Raman lines as narrow as similar to 2 cm(-1) have been measured for alpha-MoO3 crystal. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
