C-S bond cleavage by chloride in a thioether N2S2 complex of platinum
The unusual rearrangement of EPt(L1)](2+) caused by Cl- attack on an alpha carbon of L1 leading to C-S bond cleavage and formation of a dimer containing both thiolate and thioether donors was investigated by X-ray crystallography, NMR and mass spectroscopy. The dimer can also be synthesized from its constituent ligand precursors.
