Electrochemically Deposited Cu2O on TiO2 Nanorod Arrays for Photovoltaic Application
Radial heterojunction solar cells based on n-type TiO2 nanorod arrays filled with p-type Cu2O films have been prepared. TiO2 nanorod arrays are synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction. Cu2O films are then electrodeposited at the surface of TiO2 nanorods. The efficiency of the resulting Cu2O/TiO2 nanorod radial heterojunction solar cells is up to 1.25%. Current work demonstrates that nanorod radial heterojunctions are promising structures for photovoltaic application. Electrodeposition may be used for the large-scale fabrication of low-cost solar cells based on nanorod radial heterojunctions. (C) 2011 The Electrochemical Society.
