We found that the post treatment of Nb2O5-WOx fibers with an aqueous solution of oxalic acid resulted in the formation of nanosheet oxides with a layer-by-layer structure in which bundles of fibers were assembled. The oxalic acid-treated catalyst showed much better recyclability in Friedel-Crafts alkylation and acylation compared to untreated material.
