Nonlinear optical response of a symmetrical Au dithiolene complex under ps and ns laser excitation in the infrared and in the visible
In the present study new results are reported concerning the nonlinear optical response of a gold dithiolene complex, namely the [Au(dpedt)(2)]. The nonlinear optical properties of the dithiolene are investigated using 35 ps and 4 ns laser excitation, both in the infrared (1064 nm) and in the visible (532 nm), by means of the Z-scan technique. In all cases, the nonlinear optical absorption coefficient beta, the nonlinear refraction parameter gamma' and the third-order susceptibility chi((3)) have been determined and the second hyperpolarizability gamma was obtained. The present results are discussed and compared with previously reported data of similar dithiolene complexes. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
