The synthesis of [Co(7-C4H4N(CH2)(3)-8-R-7,8-C2B9H9)-(eta(5)-NC4H4)] (R = CH3, C6H5), the first molecule reported incorporating [eta-NC4H4](-) and an organic C-NC4H4 group, is described. The molecular structure of the compound for R = CH3 is indicated in the diagram.
