Cooperative Infrared to Visible Up Conversion in Tb3+, Eu3+, and Yb3+ Containing Polymers
CONTENTS Intense visible photoluminescence is observed in Yb0.7Tb0.3(PFBS)(3) (PBFS = perfluorobutane-sulfonate) coordination polymers upon IR excitation as a result of cooperative up-conversion (UC) processes. These occur when two individually excited Yb3+ ions simultaneously combine their energy into a high-energy excited state of Tb3+.
