Synthesis, Crystal-Structure, and Solution Properties of a Hexacopper(II) Complex with Bridging Hydroxides, Pyrazolates, and Nitrates
A reaction of [Cu(pzH)(4)(NO3)(2)] (pzH = pyrazole) (1) with 2 equiv of Cu(NO3)(2) . 3H(2)O at pH 6 afforded the unusual hexacopper(II) complex [Cu-3(mu(3)-OH)(mu-pz)(3)(mu(4)-NO3)(pzH)(3)](2)(mu-NO3)(2) (Pz = Pyrazolate)(2). Both 1 and 2 have been structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. The intertrimer linkage in 2 is supported with two bridging nitrate ions. The behavior of 2 in aqueous media has been examined by means of electronic absorption spectroscopy and electric conductivity measurements.
