Chiral (Ru(pp)(2)(Co)(2))(2+) Species (Pp=bidentate Polypyridyl Ligand) and Their Use in the Stereoselective Synthesis of Ligand-Bridged Dinuclear Complexes
The decarbonylation of chiral [Ru(pp)(2)(CO)(2)](2+) (pp = bidentate polypyridyl ligands) in the presence of excess pp shows stereoretention in the [Ru(pp)(3)](2+) product, and under the same conditions, its reaction with chiral [Ru(pp’)(2)(BL)](2+) centers (pp and pp’ may or may not be identical; BL = bridging ligand) allows synthesis of specific diastereoisomeric forms of the dinuclear species [(pp)(2)Ru(BL)Ru(pp’)(2)](4+).
