Efficient and Convenient Method for Axial Nucleotide Removal from Vitamin-B-12 and Its Derivatives
Neat trifluoromethanesulfonic acid readily cleaves the axial 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole nucleotide loop in vitamin B-12 derivatives under anhydrous conditions at room temperature. The method can also be used for axial nucleotide removal from a variety of B-12 derivatives, including alkylcobalamins.
