Spectroscopic and Structural Investigation of Nickel(II) and Nickel(III) Compounds Stabilized by Identical P,O Ligands
A pair of Ni(II)/Ni(III) ComPlexes with an identical ligand set derived from tris(2,4,6-trimethoxyphenyl)phosphine (TMPP) has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The compound Ni(II)(TMPP-0)2 (1) exhibits a trans square-planar geometry consisting of two phosphorus and two phenoxide oxygen atoms. COMpound [Ni(III)(TMPP-0)2] [BF4] (2) obtained from the chemical oxidation of 1 possesses a distorted octahedral geometry with two mutually cis phosphorus and two phenoxide oxygen atoms in the equatorial plane and two ether methoxy oxygen atoms in axial positions.
