Transition-Metal Chemistry of Main-Group Hydrazides .7. Synthesis and Coordination Chemistry of bis(Dichlorophosphino)Dimethylhydrazine
The interaction of methylhydrazine dihydrochloride (HMeNNMcH-2HCl) with excess PCl3 under refluxing conditions gave bis(dichlorophosphino)dimethyl-hydrazine, Cl2PN(Me)N(Me)PCl2 (1), in good yields. The reaction of 1 with PdCl2(PhCN)2 and PtCl2(COD) gave the respective Pd(II) and Pt(II) metallacyclic compounds [Cl2PN(Me)N(Me)PCl2.MCl2] (M = Pd (2); Pt (3)). All the new compounds have been characterized by H-1 and P-31 NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The Pt(II) complex 3 showed a 1J(Pt-P) value of 5196 Hz.
