Improving energy efficiency with the various control sequences for a VAV system through continuous commissioning (R)
This paper discusses the implementation of the innovative technologies for variable-air-volume (VAV) systems in a Continuous Commissioning (CC (R)). The implemented building is a 5-story office facility with a total floor area of 8472 square meters, most of which is open space. An energy audit was conducted to evaluate the building's energy performance and identify potential cost-effective energy saving opportunities. Specific CC (R) measures were implemented in the building. This paper presents procedures, implementations and detailed descriptions of control sequence and operation comparisons for the terminal boxes and air-handling units (AHUs), as well as the chilled water system and hot water system. The results show CC (R) can improve building operations and reduce energy costs. The energy report shows the electricity savings of 26.8% and gas savings of 47.8% on an average.
