Adsorption of Water Vapor on Carbon Molecular Sieve: Thermal and Electrothermal Regeneration Study
In this work, we studied the safety issues related to the application of electric swing adsorption (ESA) processes to streams with high relative humidity. Carbon molecular sieve 3 K was chosen as the selective adsorbent because of its good electricity-conducting properties. We also measured breakthrough curves of water vapor at different temperatures (296-347 K) using different partial pressures of water vapor. Additionally, a comparison of the performance of electric swing adsorption (ESA) and temperature swing adsorption (TSA) processes was also performed. The ESA experiments performed confirm that it is possible to employ the ESA technique in separations in which the feed streams are saturated with water.
