Melting behaviour of ionic salts in the presence of high pressure CO2
In this article, we present experimental data on high pressure CO2-induced melting point depression of low-melting ionic salts (ionic liquids). A phenomenon that is widely reported for other organic compounds (e.g. polymers and lipids), it has only received more attention for ionic liquids in the last couple of years, and since a dramatic effect of 120 K melting point depression was discovered. The obtained results are compared with recently published data, in order to rationalize the effect of high pressure CO2 on melting of ionic liquid-like salts. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V.
