Surface area of closed carbon nanotubes determined from room temperature measurements of alcohols adsorption
The results of systematic study of alcohols (methanol, ethanol, n- and iso-propanol) adsorption on three types of closed carbon nanotubes are reported and described by recently proposed model. The values of specific surface areas determined from adsorption data of alcohols are larger than those obtained from low-temperature nitrogen adsorption however, the qualitative agreement is observed. Therefore it is concluded that alcohol sorption at room temperature is good and cheaper alternative to low-temperature nitrogen measurements. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
