Dynamic Hydrogels: Switching of 3D Microenvironments Using Two-Component Naturally Derived Extracellular Matrices
This article describes fabrication of a two-component extracellular matrix (ECM) in which one component acts as a stable structural element and another component gels or dissolves reversibly (a modulatory component). Using a composite collagen-alginate ECM, reversible cross-linking of the alginate (the modulatory component) via application of calcium or citrate modulates cell mobility in a 3D collagen matrix (the structural component)
