A modern approach in thermal design of vapor-non-condensable gas condensers
Several approximate methods for the design of vapor-non-condensable (NC) gas condensers have been proposed, all of which are based on the widely known Colburn-Hougen (CH) method which was considered "tedious" in the precomputer era. An attempt is made to employ spline equations to correlate design values for executing the CH procedure; and by FEM to determine the temperature along the tube side and shell side of a typical vapor- non-condensable gas condenser. These two are found to be good shortcut methods compatible with the CH procedure.
