Feasibility of producing needle coke from three aromatic extracts obtained by solvent refining of lubricating oil base stocks has been studied in a bench scale delayed coker. Analytical data has been generated on the feedstocks and important structural features discussed to explain the suitability of these feedstocks for producing needle coke.
