Area determination of heat exchanger networks using dynamic simulation
The use of optimization cl iter-ia ill process design leads to stringent specifications in Order to reduce operating costs mid initial investments. Lately: the concepts of flexibility and robustness have been incorporated bl order to guarantee operability and controllability of the new design. This work shows that a nonconventional application of central algorithms, over dynamic simulations of the process, helps to analyze and determine the eventual adjustment necessary to have the required flexibility. The proposed method yields the minimum overdesign that can retain controllability in a predetermined operating space. It also detects nonconvex operating space and therefore the need for a change in the designed structure.
