We found that triphenylmethylium tetrafluoroborate (TPM+BF4-) could be coordinated to the imine group of dendritic phenylazomethine (DPA) in stepwise radial fashion, which allows for control of the number and position of TPM and metals incorporated into the dendrimers.. Organic-metal hybrid assembly was also achieved.
